Bedtime tales are told by an artificial intelligence-powered bear.

In order to incorporate cutting-edge artificial intelligence voice technology into its PLAi (pronounced 'play') toy line, Skyrocket, a toy company based in Los Angeles, formed a partnership with ElevenLabs of Massachusetts. The first product in the range is Poe, an AI-powered teddy bear that generates and narrates personalized children's stories using ChatGPT and Microsoft Azure. Launched in August 2024 and priced at USD 50, Poe offers lifelike, emotionally rich storytelling in over 20 languages. The bear operates via an app that allows children to choose story elements, ensuring that no two stories are alike. Future updates, like enhanced parental controls, improved vocabulary and additional language options, are planned.
