URMC & Five Star Bank
In order to reach patients in rural areas, the university has launched a telehealth pilot program in banks.
Several telehealth stations are now being tested in rural parts of New York by the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) and Five Star Bank. The purpose of these stations is to help patients and healthcare practitioners in rural areas communicate more effectively. In the month of February 2024, the concept was tested out at three bank branches located in rural areas. This was made possible by the virtual on-demand platform that DexCare provides. Additionally, users were able to measure health parameters such as their weight and blood pressure. The branches that have been chosen for the program are situated in towns that have a limited number of health care professionals based locally, and where a significant number of residents do not have access to the internet at their homes.
