The city of Madrid features prominently displayed invitations to take a seat and read.

Across eight of Madrid's districts, the city council placed book-shaped benches, which not only serve as a place to read but also serve as a larger-than-life reminder of the pleasures that come with reading. The concept is the result of a partnership between the city, Penguin Random House, Carat and JCDecaux. In addition to displaying titles that were published by Penguin, each of the 26 bancolibros, also known as benches, also includes a QR code that directs users to additional information regarding the book and its author. During the second edition of Siéntate a leer (which translates to "Sit Down to Read"), which took place in June 2024, six additional book benches were installed than in 2023. Esnob, written by Elísabet Benavent, 'En agosto nos vemos', with Gabriel García Márquez, and 'Mafalda', written by Quino, were among the titles that were included. It had only been one month when the bancolibros were installed.
