Testicular cancer self-examinations using pregnancy tests are encouraged as part of a campaign.
An initiative to encourage early identification of testicular cancer through self-examination utilizing pregnancy tests that detect Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone that is found in certain types of testicular cancer, was launched by the Mexican non-governmental organization Fundación de Alba in May of 2024 within the context of the program. This initiative, which has been given the name "Test-icles," is designed to encourage men to conduct self-examinations in communities where cultural obstacles prevent them from obtaining medical assistance owing to feelings of embarrassment or fear. It gained traction on social networks, digital media, and out-of-home advertising, with content creators helping to promote the message and encourage their followers to take a test. This was accomplished through the use of promotional materials.
