There are roughly four million people in Colombia who could benefit from biodegradable water filters.

The water crisis in Colombia, which is affecting over four million people, has been addressed by a collaborative effort between the Colombian Red Cross, the Baylor Foundation, and Ogilvy Colombia. One thousand biodegradable water filters that are capable of processing more than seven hundred twenty thousand liters of clean water on a yearly basis are going to be manufactured as part of the Filter Caps program. Using a resin that is based on sweet corn starch, the attachment is able to transform PET bottles into portable water purification stations. This is accomplished by placing the attachment onto the neck of the bottles. Beginning in May of 2024, the first one thousand filters will be provided, which will be of assistance to about ten thousand persons living in vulnerable communities. During the Cannes Lions 2024, the initiative was selected for the shortlist in the Societal Innovation category.
