Gogoro & Terpel

In Colombia, the first battery-swapping scooters are marketed.

In order to further Colombia's efforts to reduce its carbon footprint, the Taiwanese company Gogoro has formed a partnership with the Colombian petroleum supplier Terpel. Gogoro's solution, which enables users to swap batteries for electric scooter models manufactured by Yamaha and Aeon at public stations, will be introduced by the manufacturers. In addition, Gogoro offers minicars and electric three-wheelers that are powered by these batteries. In May of 2024, the first four Gogoro battery swapping stations opened their doors at Terpel service stations in Bogotá. These stations were operating under the Voltex brand, which is owned by Terpel. By the end of the year 2024, the objective is to grow to a total of fourteen locations, which will include other cities such as Medellín.
