The Google Image and Source Verification Tool is Now Live!
Google introduced three new features in October 2023, all of which were aimed to provide people with additional context regarding internet photos and the sources from which they originated. Information regarding the history of an image, how other websites use and describe it, as well as its metadata, can be found in the "About this image" section. The second feature is an upgraded version of the Fact Check Explorer, which enables users to upload a picture and check to see if it has been fact-checked. This is accomplished through the utilization of claim review markup. Over seventy percent of beta testers told us that this feature cut down on the amount of time they spent reviewing facts. Last but not least, users who have opted into Search Generative Experience (SGE) are able to view descriptions of sources that have been developed by artificial intelligence, together with links to other websites that discuss the same source. This last feature is a part of Google's experiment with generative artificial intelligence meant to assist users in verifying websites that are not as well-known.
