Pasubio Group

Automotive manufacturers will no longer receive leather from a manufacturer that is connected to deforestation in Paraguay.

In December of 2023, the Pasubio Group, which is in the business of selling upholstery to companies including as Jaguar, Porsche, and BMW, made the announcement that it would no longer purchase leather from suppliers who were responsible for the destruction of trees in areas where the Ayoreo Totobiegosode people lived. After years of lobbying on the part of the Indigenous group, the Italian company has announced that it will terminate its commercial relationships with Paraguayan suppliers if it is unable to guarantee that these suppliers are not connected to cattle ranches that are located within the Paraguayan Chaco, which is also referred to as the Patrimonio Natural y Cultural Ayoreo Totobiegosode. The Ayoreo Totobiegosode have been fighting for their human and territorial rights, and Pasubio has issued a statement expressing its support for them in their fighting.
