TikTok has established a Youth Council in order to improve the platform's safety.
Praesidio Safeguarding, an organization headquartered in the United Kingdom that focuses on internet safety, became a partner with TikTok in March 2024 for the TikTok Youth Council. The council is comprised of fifteen teens from around the world, and its primary objective is to include the viewpoints of teenagers into the platform's safety and management strategies. With the goal of ensuring that TikTok is a secure and welcoming environment for young people, the primary focus is on improving the well-being and inclusion of young people. During the first meeting of the council, which took place in December 2023, TikTok was pushed to prepare new educational programs that would address misinformation and content generated by artificial intelligence.
