A plant-based replacement to smoked salmon has been introduced.

The plant-based replacement of hot-smoked salmon known as SAL-NOM was introduced by BettaF!sh, a company based in Berlin, in the month of June 2024. Based on the popularity of the brand's TU-NAH product, which was introduced in 2021, SAL-NOM is a product that is manufactured from organic seaweed, fava bean, and pea proteins. It does not contain any soy or wheat based ingredients. There is a can and a jar of the product that may be purchased. As a part of the launch, BettaF!sh worked with Veganuary to promote healthier oceans and more animal-friendly diets. The hashtag #VeganuaryFishWeek was also implemented.
