The culinary school encourages its pupils to develop patisseries that are inspired by artificial intelligence.
With the inaugural AI-inspired Patisserie 3.0 Challenge, the Institut Culinaire de France has issued a challenge to nine students who are currently enrolled in the Bachelor's program. After requesting that generative AI build a "perfect" patisserie treat (with some tweaks to make the creations feasible), the students were given the task of developing three-dimensional molds in order to duplicate the forms. In the month of January 2024, the students gave presentations of their creations to a professional jury that Pierre Hermé, a celebrity pastry chef, directed. The school's shop was the location where the winning creation was sold.
