Rural customers will be able to shop online thanks to the supermarket's low-resolution website.
PlazaVea Supermarkets in Peru introduced a scaled-down version of their website in April 2023. The purpose of this was to make it possible for consumers living in remote areas with low internet connectivity to carry out online shopping. Additionally, in order to accommodate poor reception, the website will automatically convert to a version that is 72% downscaled and optimized for 2G networks. Additionally, in order to prevent clients from losing their orders as a result of unstable connections, the website retains money for a short period of time until a more reliable signal is available for the completion of transactions. The effort known as "Redesigning for E-inclusion" initially encompassed three PlazaVea stores in Cusco, which were responsible for distributing to rural areas. Within the next four years, the grocery chain intends to extend the service to a total of four other provinces. During the first week of operation, PlazaVea was responsible for more than 300 deliveries, and the website saw a 10% rise in the number of visitors.
