REI Co-op

People are encouraged to move outside by participating in free outdoor programs and tours.

During the month of June 2024, REI Co-op reaffirmed its dedication to encouraging people to opt outside. A total of 300 free lessons, in-store workshops, and guided hiking and paddling tours were held by the outdoor brand with the intention of reaching over 6,000 participants across the American continent. The sessions were led by members of the REI staff, guides, and community partners. Some of the activities were designed in collaboration with Adina Crawford, an influencer who promotes body positivity, and groups such as Adaptive Adventures and Latino Outdoors. Additionally, REI Co-op has renewed its collaboration with Hipcamp, which allows for free camping during the busiest weekends of the year.
