Sony Robot Dogs

Robot dogs are being placed in loving homes through a foster program.

Five years after the introduction of its robot dog, the ERS-1000 Aibo, Sony has announced the beginning of a foster program with the goal of assisting robo-pets that have been abandoned in finding a new and loving home. In spite of the fact that Aibo was initially developed as a means of providing amusement, the dog has proved to be an efficient tool for providing emotional support ever since it was introduced. Customers have the option of donating their ERS-1000 units to the initiative, which will then be put through a series of tests and repairs before being leased out to various organizations, including hospitals, nursing homes, and other establishments that require emotional support robots. A fee will be charged to individuals who are referred to as "foster parents" by the Japanese technology business. This cost will be used to pay the expense of repairing other Aibo machines.
