Walmart & Roku
innovation cover

Shoppable commercials give viewers the opportunity to buy products and curated gift lists while they are watching the show.

The shoppable experience known as Add to Heart was the result of a partnership between the supermarket retailer Walmart, which is based in the United States, and the streaming service Roku. A designer named Jessica and her Christmas exploits are featured in a shoppable series of commercials that spans a total of twenty-three episodes. A text message containing a link to a checkout page will be sent to the viewer's phone via the Roku remote control whenever they find something that they find appealing. From that point on, the users are able to finish the purchase by using their smartphone. At the beginning of the holiday shopping season, in December 2023, Add to Heart was introduced to the public.
