Great Britain's first charity-shop department store launches.
North London welcomed the first UK multi-charity department store in January 2023. Brent Cross is home to the Charity Super.Mkt. Store patrons can support ten different organizations: TRAID, Havens Hospice, Barnado's, Shelter, Cancer Research, Age UK, Marie Curie, Emmaus, SCT, and All Aboard. This is all a direct result of the (relatively) recent boom in the popularity of buying used clothing, particularly among members of Generation Z and millennials. Charity Super.Mkt is a volunteer-run organization that has been operating out of a vacant Topshop for the past two years.
