Amazon One rolls out age verification, so now you can buy beer and alcohol with just your palm
With the introduction of Amazon's palm scanning technology in May 2023, the company made it possible for customers who were considered eligible to purchase alcoholic beverages by merely waving their hand. For the purpose of verification, Amazon One users can upload images of their government-issued identification as well as a selfie to the website. Customers' identification documents are checked by a licensed identity verification service; the company does not keep a copy of these documents. It is possible for clients to purchase alcoholic beverages at participating establishments by just placing their palm over an Amazon One device. The bartender will see a message that says "21+" as well as the selfie that the customer has submitted, and the customer will then be able to make the payment by hovering their hand once again. This feature was initially made available at Coors Field, which is the home of the Colorado Rockies baseball team.
